GeneralSmokeUpington 123 Posted July 21, 2015 (edited) Hello everyone who stumbled in here I'm just gonna start off in the middle here as I'm cross posting. In time all will be revealed ;) Just some teaser shots of what's growin' on atm. Pics 1 & 4 are Pineapple Kush, the rest is AK-47 n I'll be leaning on AK-47 in the foreseeable future as it's simply one of those strains that's hard to get tired of. Mixing in one or two of this or that as I go. I grow organic with HPS/MH lights. Looking to DIY some LED's for the veg area in the near future though to save on the power bill, oh yeah, I grow perpetual style. So there's always something around for yummy bud porn. GeneralSmokeUpington 123 Posted July 21, 2015 Hey there, thanks for stopping by man. I used to grow hydro, had that Lucas formula down pat. Worked spectacularly IMO too. But as I became a more health conscious person I decided to give that up and go organic. Sometimes I wish I was still doing hydro as it's much easier to transport a gallon or two of nutes than it is to drag soil around. But like I said, health is more important ;) 2 EDDIEKIRK and offdababa reacted to this I'm NOT surrounded..... I'm in a target rich environment ;)

offdababa 6,697 Posted July 22, 2015 I started reusing my soil as I got tired of finding a place to hide it.... like you said its all a trade off. 2 GeneralSmokeUpington and EDDIEKIRK reacted to this Disappointment is caused by unrealistic expectations. / The more I learn about people the more I like my dog. / Whether you think that you can, or that you can't, you are usually right. / Its like everything it depends on everything else. GeneralSmokeUpington 123 Posted July 22, 2015 I veg under 8 2' T-5's & a 400W MH in a 4'x4' room Flowering under a 600W HPS on a mover for the summer, in winter I run a 1K ;) I reuse my soil as well. I mix half new and half old. The half old that is left I put outside, I add a little horse poo and veggie scraps to it and let the worms and rain do there thing for a month or so. Then I mix it with half new stuff as well as a few ammendments. Then the wheels on the bus keep going round & round ;) Every so often I just dump the whole thing into one of my veggie gardens or I'll add another container plant. I need to raise the soli levels in my gardens anyway so it works out for now. I guess after a while I'll have to resort to the tactics of old prison break movies where they fill there pockets with dirt from the tunnel and drop it as they walk around ;) 2 offdababa and EDDIEKIRK reacted to this I'm NOT surrounded..... offdababa 6,697 Posted July 23, 2015 reuse it all man, if you take care of it it gets better, if not...well...lol 2 GeneralSmokeUpington and EDDIEKIRK reacted to this Disappointment is caused by unrealistic expectations. / The more I learn about people the more I like my dog. / Whether you think that you can, or that you can't, you are usually right. / Its like everything it depends on everything else. GeneralSmokeUpington 123 Posted July 23, 2015 I was reusing it all for a little while, but it got to heavy on me so I started using 1/2 & 1/2, (old & new), Feel free to ramble on about the subject as I'm not anal about my journal being only about me or only about growing. Or a link to what you do if you already have it typed up elsewhere. If I can figure it out it would be great as soil isn't cheap... but then again, what is nowadaze ;) 2 offdababa and EDDIEKIRK reacted to this I'm NOT surrounded..... offdababa 6,697 Posted July 24, 2015 Im a lazy ass grower that knows a fraction of whom I was taught by. (disclaimer). I continually had to add more perlite but you if you can keep and improve the soil each run, I have no doubt it gets better. Organic teas and watching the plants, forgetting about any feed schedule or other non sense really helped a lot. I like TLO soil...there is no way all the stuff in there breaks down in 3 months, even after a good "cooking"... its not for everyone, but if you have security, health or finanacial limitations it may be just the thing.... 1 GeneralSmokeUpington reacted to this Disappointment is caused by unrealistic expectations. / The more I learn about people the more I like my dog. / Whether you think that you can, or that you can't, you are usually right. / Its like everything it depends on everything else. GeneralSmokeUpington 123 Posted July 24, 2015 I was adding perlite before, I guess it just wasn't enough. The girls grew half decent. But not great. The buds just didn't fill out like they should have. Most likely due to the root ball not getting large enough to support the above ground portion. That I know for a fact, as I checked it ;) Things are looking up finally, not quite where I want them to be yet. But much better than before. As long as what I do pull is good quality, I'm fairly happy. If you can get quality bud, quantity will follow. Cuz quantity without quality is a waste of time IMHO. Probably gonna do some chopping this weekend, (Sunday), so I'll set off a pic bomb then. 2 offdababa and EDDIEKIRK reacted to this I'm NOT surrounded..... GeneralSmokeUpington 123 Posted July 27, 2015 I had to spend most of Sunday canning corn & wax beans. Hopefully I'll get started chopping after work today. Although I'm not sure I trust my self around sharp things today. I've only been up for about an hour, it's been a hell of a morning so far 2 offdababa and EDDIEKIRK reacted to this I'm NOT surrounded..... GeneralSmokeUpington 123 Posted July 28, 2015 Thanks for the well wishes, but it didn't seem to help Yesterday I started my day with a piece of glass in my foot. Today I have diarrhea :-O LOL Managed to chop one yesterday, NLxBB IMO it didn't grow very well compared to previous grows of this strain. Hopefully the clone will do better in the next round. I'll be chopping a Pineapple Kush this evening after work / supper ;) 2 offdababa and EDDIEKIRK reacted to this I'm NOT surrounded..... offdababa 6,697 Posted July 28, 2015 Sorry to hear your dark cloud hasn't passed you by yet....Girls could look a lot worse, but glass in your foot always sucks 2 GeneralSmokeUpington and EDDIEKIRK reacted to this Disappointment is caused by unrealistic expectations. / The more I learn about people the more I like my dog. / Whether you think that you can, or that you can't, you are usually right. / Its like everything it depends on everything else. GeneralSmokeUpington 123 Posted July 29, 2015 Hey there Eddie. I agree. Obviously, I haven't tasted it yet, but the smell is very nice. To me it's almost as important as the buzz. I like a total package or "The Full Experience". Smell, taste & buzz. Sometimes I just like to smell the buds ;) Got the Pineapple Kush down yesterday. Replaced her with another AK-47 right away On a black cloud note, I'm not sure I got all the glass out of my foot / big toe. Sometimes it feels like there's something in there, sometimes not. But since I spend all my time at work on my feet, I'm glad that for whatever reason, I don't notice it with my shoes on Must be the jellies ;) 2 EDDIEKIRK and offdababa reacted to this I'm NOT surrounded..... offdababa 6,697 Posted July 29, 2015 Agreed, rather have a ounce or two of somthing good, that I know wasn't chemed to death or God knows what than a pounds of something odd or abused. 2 EDDIEKIRK and GeneralSmokeUpington reacted to this Disappointment is caused by unrealistic expectations. / The more I learn about people the more I like my dog. / Whether you think that you can, or that you can't, you are usually right. / Its like everything it depends on everything else. GeneralSmokeUpington 123 Posted July 30, 2015 I have an AK-47 due to come down in the next few days. She's all cloudy atm. So I can chop her anytime now. Tomorrow is grocery shopping & cut the grass if it isn't already 90 degrees by the time I get done with the groceries. So I doubt I'll be doing it tomorrow. Maybe Saturday, maybe ;) A few pics till then. 2 offdababa and EDDIEKIRK reacted to this I'm NOT surrounded..... I'm in a target rich environment ;)

offdababa 6,697 Posted July 30, 2015 looking good, you ever try using squatier pots? I know 5 gal buckets work, but IMHE a 7-10 gallon squat or cloth pot is woth the price of admission...just a obervation my friend.. 2 EDDIEKIRK and GeneralSmokeUpington reacted to this Disappointment is caused by unrealistic expectations. / The more I learn about people the more I like my dog. / Whether you think that you can, or that you can't, you are usually right. / Its like everything it depends on everything else. GeneralSmokeUpington 123 Posted July 31, 2015 I've thought about it a time or two in the past. I use the buckets because I already had them from my hydro days / = no cash expenditure. I have some 2 gal smart pots that I used to use to get them going then put the whole thing into the 5# buckets. But I started using some taller pots to start off as the smarties were kinda shallow. Gave me more time till I had to screw with them again ;) I do have a pot that I believe is in the 7# range. But it's got that damn funnel shape. I also have one nursery type pot that might be 6# or 7 #. It's about as tall as a 5# bucket but it's a little bit wider. I can't really go to big as I only have a 4'x4' veg area that feeds a 4' x 10" flower area. A lot of my grow is all about timing ;) 2 offdababa and EDDIEKIRK reacted to this I'm NOT surrounded..... GeneralSmokeUpington 123 Posted August 4, 2015 (edited) I have lots to do today, gonna can some tomatoes and chop an AK-47. And a few other things if I have time left. I used to make sauce right away. But I think it will be easier to just can the whole tomatoes and use them for sauce or whatever as I need to instead ;) My little over stuffed veg area. First three pics is the AK that's getting chopped. The rest are AK's of chops to come. Looks like the heatwave is finally going to subside starting tomorrow... yaaaaaay Hey BW, any suggestions for peach scab? Been reading that copper is good for it. Any specific recommendations and instructions would be appreciated ;) Edited August 16, 2015 by EDDIEKIRK 2 EDDIEKIRK and offdababa reacted to this I'm NOT surrounded.....
