Ok, so I see that Ushio, maker of a happy little grow light bulb in my garden, also makes BIG Metal Halide bulbs, seemingly for graphic arts stuff.
Anyone know if you could use a couple to veg? maybe vertical, or in a vertibolic... could be interesting, wondered if anyone knew.

Screw that!
In order to get good light distribution with a bulb that size, you'd need a hood that's about 8'x8'. Not to mention cooling it.

induction lighting definitely the now. i have seen what it can do and drool. i have led lights, 3 of them but the colors they give off really hurt my eye. i only have one and i see spots for a while lol
i love my led's for vegging but the induction lighting is in its own class 300 watt is equal to a 800hps and a 1000 watt hid. The plant uses 96% of the light and it has a 70% electrical load on your over all electric bill. BUT the initial cost is what gets you. They ain't cheap!
