Special thanks to our own EDDIEKIRK and Lindsey at Sunmark Enviromental for the samples of Carbon Pro START (CP-Start for short)!  I will be doing a side by side comparison with two different strains.  All plants were started from seed at the same time (per strain). The two strains are Southern Oregon Seeds Arcata Trainwreck (SOSATW) and Southern Oregon Seeds Lemon OG (SOSLOG).  All of the gardens that I have been helping have been growing all different strains of Southern Oregon Seeds.  Have yet to have any issues with their seeds or their customer service!  Faster than ordering from other seed vendors!  Can't say enough good about any one of the above mentioned people or companies!   ***NOT A PAID SPOKESPERSON***

I re-potted my rooted coco plugs into bigger pots and amended a heaping 1/2 teaspoon of CP-Start per pot.  These are a little bigger than 4" square.  Here are the plants as they went into the tent today!

All plants are in Botanicare's ReadyGrow Aeration mix and are getting the full line of Heavy 16 nutrients per their posted feeding schedule on their website.  I have spoken to both companies and they both say their products are compatible with the others, so I am excited to see what the future holds for these girls!

All the plants go in the tent.  Two plants in the middle are my two cheese flavors.  Their counterparts were donated to another grower's new garden.  I'll pop more beans when these go into flower!

I'm going to try and make updates each weekend.

Stay tuned!

Week 2 - 12/24/2016 (Merry X-mas Eve update)

So the girls have been doing fantastic this week.  Each day, I feed them with 16oz. each of Heavy 16 week 2 solution as well as all plants get a foliar spray as I finish up watering for the day!  All the runoff goes into a bucket, and I've been feeding my houseplants with it.  They love Heavy 16 too!!!  Lights are still on 24/0.  I did turn another set of lights on, so now the two outer LED panels are on "VEG" setting.  I also increased the distance between the lights and plants when I took the shelf out and put the plants directly on the ground.

**The treated girl was a bit bigger to start...  Looking good so far!  Both stems are solid, but the CP treated girl is about double the thickness.**

So far it's hard to tell if there is any difference between the girls...  I have suspicions the CP treated girls are growing a tiny bit faster.  There is no other variable that is different, but the two CP treated plants do appear to be growing a tad faster than their control counterparts..

I have the autopots ready to go when the girls are ready for transplanting.  I am thinking another one or two weeks in these pots and then I will transplant them.

Stay tuned for the next update!!!

These are what the girls are going to be transplanted into.  5 gallon "auto-pots".  Keep an eye out for my DIY build thread on these.  Super EASY & Cheap!  I will be transplanting them sometime this weekend.  I will take pictures and post them when I finish getting them all settled into their new pots.

Sneak Peek at the girls as they await me to transplant them into bigger pots!  The roots are already starting to poke through the bottom of all the pots!

Loving how things are looking so far!

Week 3 Update - 1/1/17 *HAPPY NEW YEAR*

The past week has been AMAZING where the girls are concerned!  The new growth EXPLODED this week and the girls easily TRIPLED in size.

This week also found me needing to transplant the girls because their roots were already starting to come out the bottom of the pots.

I decided to take update pictures before and after so you could have a reference of size with the previous pictures.

All of the girls were transplanted into 5 gallon buckets that I have made into self wicking pots.  Both Carbon Pro plants medium got amended with both CarbonPro-START and CarbonPro-FIX.  I also fed all girls with a gallon of fresh Heavy 16 (Week 2 Veg formula) nutrients to get them settled into their new pots.  I will check them in a day to see how much they have soaked up and will make sure that each pot has (at the most) of 3" of water in the lower bucket.  I use a simple wooden dowel as a dip-stick to check the water level through the white 3/4" standpipe.  Check out my DIY Construction thread on these buckets.  They work fantastic for any kind of plant, not just Cannabis!

Until Next update!!!

Do the roots on the treatment pots seem a little bit burlier to you?  I know it's so soon....

It would be interesting to see the weigh-out at the end of all parts of the plant - not just buds.

How do you think it works?  I wish I had a good feel for the actual mechanism of action by which carbon products are supposed to work.  Also, I wonder if the effect would be as great in a room with supplemental CO2.

I'm at this point suspect that the Carbon Pro Start adds to the thickness of the roots.  I also have two other plants that are different strains that were not treated with CP and their roots are thick as well.  Still undecided.  Stay tuned!

If you want to weigh out the roots and other parts of the plants, I will be more than happy to donate them to you to clean and weigh after harvest.  I don't think you could get an accurate comparison on root weight.  But more power to you if you want to give it a go.

Week 4 Update - 1/8/2017

Things are going quite well with the girls as you will see below.  They are all growing consistently and adjusting to their new pots with little to no growth slow down.  The inter-node spacing is like nothing I have seen before.  In the past with all the HPS/MH/T5 lights I ran, my plants would stretch and I would have huge spaces between the inter-nodes.  That doesn't seem to be the issue with using these LED lights.  Digging on the results so far!

img_20170107_002918_zpspn8w3ybd.jpg

Overview of the girls in their tent.  1/8/2017  CP treated girls lower left (SOSATW) and lower right (SOSLOG).  Their control counterparts are directly behind the treated plants.  The two plants in the middle are my UK Cheese and Sweet Cheese (the one closest to camera) girls.  Neither of them were treated with Carbon Pro.

So without further à deux...  Updated close up pictures!  Hope you have been enjoying all the plant porn!  :)

As for noticeable differences between the Carbon Pro treated girls and the control girls...  I'm seeing solid and consistent growth with all plants.  The Carbon Pro girls seem to be starting to put on more weight than their counterparts.  I am noticing that the Carbon Pro girls foliage is a bit deeper color green than the control plants.  I can't get it to replicate on camera (my smartphone camera doesn't appear to be that smart), but it's noticeable when you are looking at them in the tent. I'm also noticing the leaves are WIDER on the CP-Treated plants.  They have about 5-10% more width/girth.  Seem to have sharper points as well on the leaves.  None the less, they are looking fantastic!  All of them!  :)

Until the next update!  Stay warm everyone!  It's icy as can be here!  Glad I am gardening INSIDE today!

Woke up to 12" of snow, so instead of going to work...  I decided to do some real scientific comparison on the CarbonPro and Control girls...  I decided to pull out my handy dandy ruler and measure the width of the leaves on each plant...  Since the plants are the same age (per strain) I decided to measure the same leaf sets on each plant.  I went up 4 nodes from the bottom of each plant and measured the center finger of each leaf.  Here are the results of my high tech sciency results...

IMG_20170111_082145_zps4txletye.jpg

SOSATW Control 1/11/2017 - 1 3/4" across.  Pretty decent for only being 4 1/2 weeks old!

IMG_20170111_082230_zpson7lz4re.jpg

SOSATW CP-Treated 1/11/2017 - 2 1/8" across.  Bigger IS better!

IMG_20170111_082254_zpswfpoy7b0.jpg

SOSLOG Control 1/11/2017 - I'll be generous and call it 2"...  (that's what she said... :LMAO: )

IMG_20170111_082317_zpsp1c0rhxa.jpg

SOSLOG CP-Treated 1/11/2017 - Almost 2 1/2"!  Fantastic!!!

I might measure the finger lengths later, but as for now...  I'm gonna watch the snow fall and make another 'toddy!

Puff puff pass...  It's a SNOW DAY!!!

Week 5 Update - 1/15/17

It's amazing that 5 weeks ago these plants were meager seedlings.  Now they all have leaves that are easily 8" across!  I'll take some measurements later this week.  It's been quite a busy weekend in the indoor garden.  Have a ton of projects going on and so this update will be quite short and to the point!  Nothing bad to report.  These girls are growing right in front of my eyes!!!  I do wish they would start to get a bit taller so I can start working the branches to widen the girls in preparation for a screen of green!  LoL

All of the ladies are doing quite well.  There are a couple of burn spots that are due to me splashing them with nutrient solution when I top feed.  Still going strong with 2L of Heavy 16 (Week 2 Veg) every day to day and a half.  They are starting to use up the nutrients.  The pots are working fantastic as well!

Until next update!  Grow on!

Week 6 Update - 1/21/2017 *(Posted a bit late)*

The past couple weeks have been quite busy for me outside of the garden and grow room.  Updates for the next couple weeks might not happen quite on Sunday (as they have before).  Take this update for instance, the pictures were taken last saturday but the update didn't happen until today!  I'll hopefully get back on track with the updates soon!  Great things are happening in my world right now, and I have to dedicate some time to other projects.  All the pictures are taken on Saturdays and will continue to be.  So the time between pictures is the same, just the updates are lagging!

Here are the girls, they are all doing fantastic!!!

As you can imagine, the ladies have grown bigger than the tent.  The two Cheese plants that I had growing with these girls have had to be moved into another tent so these girls can have more room to grow.  I am planning on the first weekend in February to switch the lights to Bloom/Flower.  The light timer will be set to 12 hours on / 12 hours off.  It's about ready to get stinky!  :)

My two cheese plants in their temporary tent home.  These are slated to go to my outdoor grow once the chance of outdoor freeze is over!  Going to be a couple of GIANT shrubs if mom nature has anything to do with it!!!  :)

Until the next update, Grow on crouton!

Week 7 Update - 1/28/2017

So I am doing this update tonight because I have a few extra moments after watering the ladies tonight.  I also went through and pulled any dead foliage from the bottom of the plant.  I am leaving the big fan leaves with a bit of burn on them until they are over 75% compromised.  The ladies will get flipped first weekend in February!  So this is one of the last few days of vegging!  Weeeeee.  Can't wait to see these ladies flower!

SOSATW CP-Treated 1/28/2017

As you can see all the ladies are growing well.  The SOSATW CP-Treated girl is the smallest overall of all the ladies.  The SOSLOG CP-Treated is the largest overall.  So far anyway!  :)
